Third Ferry Operator to Launch Inter-Island Service in Channel Islands
A new ferry operator is set to provide inter-island services in the Channel Islands this summer, adding a third option for sea travel between Jersey and Guernsey.
Islands Unlimited has announced its summer schedule, following the recent decision by the governments of Jersey and Guernsey to select different ferry operators for their long-term sea links. Jersey has awarded a 15-year contract to Danish company DFDS, while Guernsey has opted to continue its partnership with Condor. Both firms have indicated plans to offer limited inter-island services, though their timetables have yet to be confirmed.
Islands Unlimited plans to introduce a daily foot passenger service between the islands, with a standard adult return fare set at approximately £67. The schedule includes weekday crossings from 07:00 GMT to 19:45, except on Tuesdays when services conclude earlier at 16:45. Weekend services will run until 21:45.
The company has stated that final discussions with Ports of Jersey are ongoing before the service officially launches, with a potential start date in June. The initiative aims to provide more travel options for island residents, commuters, and businesses while also supporting tourism through convenient day-trip opportunities.
The move has been welcomed by industry representatives, who see it as a significant boost for both tourism and local communities.
