Licensed venues across Jersey have been granted permission to extend their opening hours so football fans can watch England's World Cup clash with Mexico in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Bailiff's Chambers has approved temporary licence extensions allowing participating venues to remain open until 4am for the match, which kicks off at 1am on Monday, 6 July.

The decision follows consultation with representatives from the hospitality industry, the States of Jersey Police and the Honorary Police.

Under the temporary arrangements, last orders must be called at 3.30am, while venues with a capacity of more than 60 people will be required to provide security.

Any venue that already holds an extension permit and wishes to take advantage of the later opening hours must inform the Bailiff's Chambers by email before midday on Saturday, 4 July.

The relaxed licensing rules apply only in Jersey. In Guernsey, pubs will continue to operate under existing licensing laws and must close by 2am, with no special extension granted for the match.
