Jersey has experienced its warmest June since official weather records began in 1894, according to Jersey Met.
The island also set a new all-time temperature record on Thursday, 25 June, when the mercury climbed to 39.3°C,
surpassing the previous high of 37.9°C recorded on 18 July 2022.
The exceptional heatwave, which lasted from 21 to 25 June, brought four consecutive days with temperatures reaching at least 30°C. During the same period, Jersey also experienced three tropical nights, with overnight temperatures remaining above 20°C.
Despite the record-breaking heat, historical records show the coldest June maximum temperature was just 13°C, recorded in both 1916 and 1972.
Sea temperatures were also higher than usual, averaging 16.2°C throughout June. By comparison, the coldest average June sea temperature on record was 13.5°C in 1986.
Rainfall for the month totalled 49.1mm, with almost half of that- 21.7mm - falling on 1 June alone. Jersey Met noted that the driest Junes on record occurred in 1925 and 1976, when only 0.2mm of rain was recorded.
The latest figures highlight an extraordinary month of weather for the island, marked by record-breaking heat and notable climate extremes.
