New Summer Air Link to Boost Travel Between Channel Islands and Western France
A seasonal flight route launching this summer is set to improve travel connections between the Channel Islands and western France.
Operated by French regional carrier Finistair, the new service is the result of a collaboration between the governments of Jersey and Alderney. Running from 27 June to 31 August, direct flights will operate twice weekly—on Fridays and Sundays—linking Jersey, Alderney, and the French city of Brest in Brittany.
The initiative is designed to foster closer cultural, economic, and social ties between the islands and mainland France.
According to Finistair, the journey from Brest to Jersey will take just 35 minutes, with a further 15-minute hop to Alderney—offering what the airline describes as a “quick and convenient way to explore the stunning coastlines, rich culture, and cuisine” of both regions.
Jersey’s Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel, said the service is part of a trial aimed at evaluating long-term potential.
“We’ve invested in this trial to help us assess the appetite for a longer-term service between the islands and France,” he said. “We hope it will boost both cultural and economic connections with our near neighbours.”
Deputy Morel added that the route would not only improve accessibility for islanders but also attract new visitors to the Channel Islands during the peak travel season.
