Blue Islands Ends Partnership with Loganair After Competing Route Announcement
Blue Islands has ended its partnership with Loganair after the Scottish airline revealed plans to launch its own flights between Jersey and Southampton, directly competing with Blue Islands.
The two airlines entered into an alliance in 2020, allowing passengers to book connecting flights from Jersey to various destinations through a shared codeshare agreement.
However, on Wednesday, Loganair announced it would begin operating its own direct flights to Southampton starting in early 2026. In response, Blue Islands confirmed it has given notice of the "immediate termination" of the codeshare agreement.
Despite the split, Blue Islands assured customers that all existing bookings involving connections between the two airlines would still be honored.
"There is no need for any customer holding an existing booking to take action," a Blue Islands spokesperson said. "However, no new codeshare bookings will be available from today. Customers who wish to amend or cancel future travel plans can do so by contacting the airline or travel agent they originally booked with."
Blue Islands also expressed gratitude to staff from both airlines who supported the partnership over the past five years.
Loganair stated that its new Jersey–Southampton service would begin in early 2026, with tickets going on sale later this year.
“We are delighted to announce another new route from our Southampton base, linking this key coastal city with Jersey,” a Loganair spokesperson said. “We look forward to contributing to Jersey’s visitor economy and collaborating with the island’s exceptional hospitality sector.”
