Thousands Yet to File Jersey Tax Returns as Deadline Approaches
With less than a week to go before the 31 July tax deadline, around 12,000 islanders have yet to file their returns, according to the latest figures from Revenue Jersey.
The tax office has so far received approximately 55,000 returns out of an expected 67,000, leaving nearly 18% still outstanding.
While the deadline for paper submissions passed in May, anyone yet to file must now do so online.
Richard Summersgill, Comptroller of Revenue, urged taxpayers not to leave things to the last minute—particularly those filing digitally for the first time.
“Verification delays can occur, so we urge taxpayers to act promptly and use the guidance available to avoid late filing penalties,” he said.
Setting up an online account includes an identity verification step, which can take time to process.
Islanders who miss the 31 July deadline could face penalties ranging from £300 to £750, depending on how late their return is submitted.
Revenue Jersey reminded those needing assistance that support is available through its online help pages, or by contacting the office directly for guidance.
