Islanders now have access to a brand-new all-weather 3G football pitch following an £800,000 investment at Springfield Stadium in St Helier.

The stadium, best known as the home of the Jersey Bulls, also serves the local community — including the nearby primary school and Jersey’s walking football team.

The upgrade replaces a pitch that had been in use for over a decade. Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan said the improvement was overdue.

“The old surface had reached the end of its life. It’s vital we provide a space that’s usable year-round — this pitch sees around 1,000 users a week,” he said.

In addition to the new playing surface, the stadium has also been fitted with energy-efficient floodlights, and further refurbishment is underway inside the venue.

“With these upgrades, we’re aiming for another 10 years of reliable use,” Mr Jehan added.
