Residents of St Saviour will have the chance to approve up to £3.1 million in spending to transform two fields near the Parish Hall into a new public park.
The project, funded through the Maison Connetable Ozouf Fund, would see Fields S514 and S515 converted into gardens featuring a children’s play area, a new toilet block, and a 32-space car park, with plans for a café in a later phase.
Constable Kevin Lewis said the focus would initially be on creating a playground, car parking, and walkways around the park.
A Parish Assembly will be held on 2 December at 6:30 pm at St Saviour’s Parish Hall, where ratepayers will vote on whether to release the funds for the project’s first phase.
The initial phase includes:
Widening entrances to the north and south of the Parish Hall and adjusting boundary walls for improved visibility at La Rue de Patier junction,
Relocating access to St Saviour's House and creating three car parking spaces in the forecourt,
Installing a pedestrian crossing on St Saviour’s Hill,
Constructing the children’s playground and footpaths,
Building a 32-space car park and bicycle store,
Adding a new access ramp to the Parish Hall,
Landscaping and creating a nature trail,
Erecting a new toilet block with full facilities.
A second phase will require additional funding to introduce a café with outdoor seating, extend landscaping around the playground, and widen and resurface Birches Avenue.
If approved, a planning application will be submitted next spring, with construction expected to begin in March 2027.
