Crowds Pack St Helier Streets for Scaled-Down Battle of Flowers
St Helier’s streets were alive with colour and music as thousands gathered for Jersey’s historic Battle of Flowers parade.
Famed for its elaborate floral floats and costumed performers, the 123-year-old celebration once again brought a carnival atmosphere to the island. This year’s displays included Disney-inspired creations alongside floats celebrating nature, cinema, and music.
In a change from tradition, the procession wound its way through the town centre rather than along Victoria Avenue, part of a cost-saving effort that also saw the event scaled back. Both the daytime and evening parades are free to attend for the first time.
Local resident Bianca Walters said she felt the changes had improved the experience. “There are more people, the atmosphere’s back and everyone’s enjoying themselves,” she said.
The festivities continue on Saturday night with a 7:30pm parade and a fireworks finale.
