Refurbished Jersey Ferry Terminal Promises Better Passenger Experience
Ferry passengers departing from Jersey can now enjoy improved facilities following a £500,000 refurbishment of the terminal, according to Ports of Jersey.
Upgrades include a post-security restaurant area, a children’s play zone, outdoor seating, and improved accessibility with new toilet facilities. Operations manager Robin Fitzgerald described the improvements as a temporary measure ahead of a full harbour overhaul, expected to begin marine work by 2026 and take up to a decade to complete.
Designed to resemble an "airport-style" experience, the changes were driven by passenger feedback. The current terminal, built in the 1980s, now sees 300–400 foot passengers daily—far more than it was originally designed for.
Island Unlimited ferry operator Andy Ison praised the upgrades, saying they ease check-in and enhance the passenger experience. Frequent traveller Barry Jenkins also welcomed the changes but noted a lack of amenities for car passengers.
Zoe Gosling from Visit Guernsey said the brighter terminal leaves a better first impression, highlighting the importance of functionality and welcoming service.
