Watchdog Launches Probe Into Suspected Anti-Competitive Practices in Jersey Logistics Sector

Jersey’s competition regulator has opened a formal investigation into potential anti-competitive behaviour within the island’s transportation, logistics, and storage sector.

The Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) said it had received credible information indicating that two or more companies may have entered into an agreement that restricted competition, potentially forming a cartel.

In a statement, the JCRA noted that such conduct could harm consumers and other businesses by limiting choice or inflating prices in a vital sector of the island’s economy.

The regulator has also reminded firms that it operates a leniency programme, offering reduced penalties to any company that voluntarily steps forward and cooperates with an investigation.

Members of the public or industry stakeholders with concerns about unfair practices in the sector are encouraged to contact the authority in confidence.

The investigation is ongoing, and no specific companies have yet been named.
