The typical full-time worker in Jersey earned £930 a week in June 2026, equivalent to annual earnings of £48,360, according to new figures from Statistics Jersey.

The latest Average Earnings Index shows wages increased by 4.1% over the year to June.

However, once inflation is taken into account, the increase in purchasing power was considerably smaller, at 1.2%.

The figures also highlight a significant difference between private and public sector pay. Average earnings in the private sector rose by 3.7%, while public sector workers saw a 5.8% increase.

The £930 figure represents the median wage, meaning half of full-time workers earned more and half earned less.

When all salaries are added together and divided by the number of workers, the mean average is higher, at £1,100 a week, or £57,200 a year.

Despite the latest annual increase, real-terms earnings remain below their level a decade ago. Statistics Jersey says average earnings are 0.8% lower in real terms than they were 10 years ago.

The Average Earnings Index is compiled using information from a large representative survey of businesses and government departments.

Statistics Jersey is now moving towards a more detailed measure of earnings based on tax and social security records alongside manpower returns.

Its latest Earnings Statistics report puts median annual earnings at £44,210 and the mean at £60,820.

The newer dataset also provides a breakdown of earnings by industry, age and nationality.

According to the figures, the highest earners are typically people aged between 50 and 54 working in Jersey's finance and legal sectors.

At the other end of the scale, the lowest-paid roles are concentrated in hotels, restaurants and bars.
