Four people were safely brought ashore on Sunday afternoon after drifting out to sea on a paddleboard off Jersey’s south coast.
Jersey Fire and Rescue said it launched its inshore boat shortly before 3pm after receiving an emergency call. The crew quickly located the group and returned them to land unharmed.
Emergency services used the incident to remind islanders of the importance of water safety, urging anyone heading out on the sea to carry a phone or radio and wear suitable protective gear.
Authorities also highlighted concerns over access for first responders. Cars had been parked across the Grouville slipway earlier in the day, which could have delayed rescuers. Islanders were asked to ensure vehicles are left only on the left-hand side of slipways at Le Hurel, Seymour, and La Rocque when facing the sea.
