New planning documents have outlined further details of a proposed skatepark in St Helier, offering a clearer picture of facilities planned for the site.
The development is proposed for South Hill, on land currently used as reversing bays for learner drivers. If approved, the skatepark would operate there temporarily before relocating to the redeveloped Fort Regent, which is scheduled for completion in 2028. The South Hill site would then be converted into a cycle park.
Plans indicate the facility would include modular, moveable ramps and obstacles, sound-reducing fencing, CCTV coverage, and accessible amenities such as a toilet and baby-changing area.
The proposal forms part of the Government of Jersey’s wider New Skateparks initiative, which aims to expand opportunities for skateboarding and other wheeled sports across the island.
Funding for the scheme has been earmarked in the government’s 2026–2029 budget, reflecting what planners describe as strong demand for improved facilities.
A major £1.9m concrete skatepark opened at Les Quennevais in 2023, and officials say the new St Helier site would create another central hub serving one of Jersey’s most densely populated areas.
