Plans have been submitted to build a new youth and community centre on the site of the former Ann Street Brewery in northern St Helier.

According to the Government of Jersey, the first phase of the project is scheduled to open in December 2026, with full completion expected by June 2028.

The proposed centre will include a range of modern amenities, including a sports hall, climbing wall, fitness suites, dance studio, boxing gym, sensory room, food preparation facilities, versatile multi-use spaces, and eight counselling rooms.

Project leaders said the centre would also become the primary base for the Youth Enquiry Service.

Assistant Minister for Children and Families, Deputy Malcolm Ferey, said the development would bring significant benefits to children, young people, and their families. "We’re responding to what young people have told us — that they want more places to play, free clubs and activities, and options for older children," he said.

Mark Capern, Associate Director for Young People's Services, added: "This new centre will give children and young people much-needed opportunities to take part in positive activities and feel connected to their community."
