Jersey War Tunnels has revealed proposals for a new exhibition facility along with upgrades to its visitor amenities.
According to site managers, the plans include the possible development of a purpose-built exhibition area within the main car park, as well as an extension to the current visitor centre. The attraction will also hold two community engagement events to present the proposals and gather public feedback to help shape future improvements.
Officials said the new space would allow for the secure display and long-term conservation of important historical artefacts, some of which cannot currently be exhibited inside the tunnels because of environmental constraints.
The feasibility proposals also involve reorganising existing parking areas to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow across the site.
The tunnels - a 1km (0.62-mile) network carved into the hillside — were built during the Second World War by forced labourers from across Europe under Nazi occupation of the Channel Islands.
Members of the public are invited to review the latest plans and submit comments before a formal planning application is lodged with the Government of Jersey.
Consultation sessions will be held at the Jersey War Tunnels Visitor Centre Café, Les Charrières Malorey, St Lawrence, on Monday 2 March 2026 and Tuesday 3 March, from 18:00 to 19:30 GMT.
