Jersey Sets New Heat Record as 30C Days Reach Highest Level on Record

Jersey has already experienced a record number of days with temperatures reaching at least 30C (86F) in 2026, according to Jersey Met.

The island has recorded 15 such days so far this year, surpassing the previous record of 11 days set in 2022.

The figures come after an exceptionally warm summer, with July confirmed as Jersey’s hottest month since records began in 1894. It was also the sunniest July ever recorded on the island.

June was similarly exceptional, becoming the warmest June in the historical record.

The month included 25 June, which Jersey Met identified as the hottest day ever recorded in Jersey. Temperatures climbed to 39.3C (102.7F), marking an extraordinary peak for the island.

The frequency of hot days in 2026 stands out when compared with recent years. Across the six years before 2026, Jersey recorded a combined total of 22 days reaching 30C or higher.

There were four such days in 2025, while 2024 saw none. In 2023, temperatures reached the 30C threshold on just one day.

With 15 days already recorded in 2026, the island has experienced almost as many 30C days in a single year as it did across the previous six years combined.

The figures underline the exceptional nature of Jersey’s weather so far this year, following a record-breaking June and July.
