Jersey RNLI Volunteers Face Surge of Emergency Callouts During Busy Saturday

Jersey's volunteer lifeboat crews responded to a series of incidents across the island on Saturday, with the RNLI describing it as an exceptionally busy day for its teams.
One of the largest operations began after a paddleboard washed ashore at Archirondel in St Martin, prompting fears that two children could still be in the water. Lifeboat crews carried out an extensive search of the surrounding area before police confirmed there had been no reports of any missing children.
Elsewhere, RNLI volunteers came to the aid of a vessel carrying five people after it suffered engine failure off Noirmont in St Brelade. Crews also assisted another boat experiencing electrical problems around three miles west of Corbière and helped kite surfers who got into difficulty near Bouley Bay in Trinity.
The RNLI said the multiple callouts highlighted the dedication of its volunteer crews, who remain on standby around the clock to respond to emergencies in all conditions.
The charity is reminding anyone planning to head out on the water to check weather forecasts and tide times before setting off. In a coastal emergency, the public should dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
