Jersey athletes, coaches and sports officials are being encouraged to apply for financial support to help them develop their skills and compete at international level.

Jersey Sport has opened applications for its Performance Sport Programme, with more than £100,000 available to support eligible members of the island’s sporting community.

The funding is aimed at athletes who meet the organisation’s Podium, Podium Potential, Talent Performance or Talent ID criteria. It can help cover training, competition and living expenses.

Dom Blampied, from Jersey Sport, said he was proud of how the programme had grown since it was launched in 2024, and of the opportunities it had created for local sportspeople.

He said the scheme was designed to help athletes, coaches and officials progress in their sporting careers, whatever the next stage of their development might involve.

As well as financial assistance, participants can access a range of specialist services to improve their performance. These include strength and conditioning, nutrition advice, sports psychology, medical support, injury rehabilitation, media training and anti-doping education.

“There is so much talent, hard work and commitment in our island's sporting community, and being able to help people take the next step in their journey is what makes this programme so worthwhile,” Blampied said.

To qualify, applicants must have been born in Jersey or lived in the island for more than two years.

Table tennis player Hannah Silcock, who has received support through the programme, said the funding had significantly expanded the level of competition she could take part in.

She said it had enabled her to continue competing at European and world level while helping to meet the associated costs.
