Jersey Airport Introduces Family Area Ahead of Half-Term Travel Surge

Jersey Airport has unveiled a new family area in its departure lounge to accommodate the growing number of families traveling during the busy half-term period.

The dedicated space features a chalkboard wall, games, and toys, providing a welcoming environment for children before their flights. More entertainment options are set to be introduced in the coming weeks, and families are encouraged to share their feedback on what they would like to see added.

The initiative was developed with the help of Brighter Futures, a local charity supporting families and young children. The organisation will also be involved in advising on future enhancements to the airport’s main departure lounge later this year.

Enhancing the Family Travel Experience

Fiona Brennan, CEO of Brighter Futures, welcomed the move, saying: “It’s encouraging to see that Ports of Jersey is prioritising the experience of families in their new designs. We’re pleased to have contributed ideas for this space.”

Sarah-Louise Stubbs, Head of Customer Experience at Jersey Airport, described the area as a place where children can relax, draw, and read before boarding their flights. Passengers can scan a QR code in the family area to submit their suggestions for further improvements.

Busy Travel Period Expected

Jersey Airport is preparing for a surge in passenger numbers, with more than 9,000 departures expected over the first weekend of half-term (14–17 February) and over 40,000 passengers arriving and departing throughout the week.

With these enhancements, the airport aims to make family travel more enjoyable and stress-free during peak holiday periods.
