Four Teenagers Arrested Following Car Crash in St Ouen

Jersey Police have arrested four teenagers on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent after a car was discovered crashed in St Ouen on Sunday morning.

The suspects include two boys aged 17 and 18, and two girls aged 13 and 15. Officers are also seeking information about a third male they believe may have been involved in the incident.

In light of a recent increase in vehicle-related crimes, police are reminding the public to secure their vehicles and ensure keys are not left inside.

“We’re seeing a growing number of vehicle crimes, including stolen cars and thefts from parked vehicles,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Hafey. “While Jersey remains a safe island, there are still individuals who choose to commit crimes — and we shouldn’t make it easy for them.”

DCI Hafey emphasised the importance of personal responsibility in preventing crime: “Islanders must take steps to safeguard their belongings, including their vehicles. We all have a part to play in keeping our community safe.”
