Two Men Jailed in Jersey Drug and Money Laundering Case

Two men have been sentenced to prison by Jersey’s Royal Court after being found guilty of drug trafficking and money laundering offences.

The case followed what police described as an “extensive investigation” into the movement of drugs and illicit funds across the island and beyond. Officers uncovered nearly £170,000 in cash, bank transfers, and cryptocurrency believed to be linked to criminal activity.

“Remains committed to disrupting the illegal drug trade and the financial networks that sustain it.”

John Alexander Hutcheson, 50, received a prison term of four and a half years. He was convicted on several counts, including possession and supply of Class A and B substances such as Cannabinol. Investigators also found he had nearly £29,000 in cash, transferred over £80,000 to the UK, and purchased close to £4,000 worth of cryptocurrency.

Andrew Robert Ramsbottom, 49, was sentenced to three years in jail for supplying Class A drugs and transferring almost £48,000 in suspected criminal proceeds to Hutcheson.

Two other individuals — Kelly Louise Vallois, 45, and Xavier James John Vallois, 25 — were handed Community Service Orders of 240 and 120 hours respectively for their involvement in the distribution of controlled substances. Xavier Vallois was additionally charged with transferring £8,469 to Ramsbottom.

In a statement following the sentencing, Jersey Police reaffirmed their stance against drug-related crime, saying the force “remains committed to disrupting the illegal drug trade and the financial networks that sustain it.”
