Contract Delay Continues for Jersey’s £710m New Hospital Project

The company chosen to build Jersey’s new hospital has yet to sign its contract five months after being named preferred bidder.

Health Minister Tom Binet said negotiations with Bouygues UK were ongoing and described the delay as normal for a project of this scale.

Bouygues UK was selected in November, with hopes of reaching an agreement in early 2026. Binet said both sides were finalising details amid global economic uncertainty and rising construction costs.

The project is currently estimated at £710m, although supply chain price increases may affect the final figure. Site preparation work is already under way by another firm.

Binet said talks were in their final stages but stressed that “nothing is done until the contract’s signed.” He also confirmed the government has a backup developer in place if needed.
