Long-Serving Channel Islands Freight Ship Put Up for Sale

A cargo vessel that has operated between the Channel Islands for nearly three decades is now on the market.

The Commodore Goodwill, which has been transporting freight since 1996, is being sold by Condor Ferries as part of a wider shake-up ahead of the company's contract to serve Jersey ending this March.

The 126-metre ship is listed for sale at €14 million, joining two other vessels from Condor’s fleet: the high-speed Liberation, valued at €24 million, and the Clipper, which is available with price on request.

With DFDS set to take over ferry operations for Jersey on 28 March, Condor – now majority-owned and rebranded by Brittany Ferries – will continue to focus on routes serving Guernsey.

Looking ahead, DFDS plans to operate freight and passenger services using a combination of vessels, including the MV Arrow for freight runs from Portsmouth and St Malo, the Stena Vigna conventional ferry from Portsmouth, and the high-speed Tarifa Jet and Levante Jet from St Malo and Poole.

Meanwhile, the Voyager will handle high-speed crossings between St Malo, Guernsey, and Poole, while the Islander will operate lifeline freight and Ro-Pax services connecting Portsmouth, Guernsey, and St Malo.
