A major funder of charitable organisations in the Channel Islands has announced a significant shift in how it allocates its grants.
Lloyds Bank Foundation revealed that from 2026 onward, all charities will be eligible to apply for unrestricted funding, giving them the flexibility to direct the money to whichever areas of their work need it most, provided it aligns with their charitable purpose.
The foundation reported distributing a record £1.3m across the islands this year. That included £400,000 earmarked for organisations facing heightened demand as a result of the rising cost of living.
Executive director Jo Le Poidevin said the updated approach would “give charities the freedom to invest where the need is greatest for them and those they help”.
“We believe this shift in our funding model will further empower charities in the Channel Islands, strengthen our communities and better support those who need it most,” she added.
Applications for the foundation’s main grants programme will open on 12 December 2025. Closing dates for 2026 have been set for 12 February, 21 May and 24 September.
