Channel Islands could face another spell of hot weather as temperatures may climb into the 30s

The Channel Islands could be heading for another burst of hot weather next week, with temperatures potentially reaching the high twenties and possibly even the low thirties.

Jersey Met senior forecaster Bryan de Gruchy said a similar weather pattern to last week’s extreme heat event could bring another period of unusually warm conditions to Jersey and Guernsey.

However, he said it was too early to confirm whether the islands would experience another heatwave or whether temperatures would match the record-breaking levels seen recently.

“Another spell of hot weather is possible, with temperatures into the high twenties, possibly the thirties,” he said.

“Whether that’s another heatwave, it’s too early to be specific about the exact temperatures at the moment and how long they’ll last.”

The previous heat event was caused by a heat dome that pushed hot air across Europe and the UK, leading to record-breaking temperatures.

Both Jersey and Guernsey recorded their highest temperatures on record during the spell, exceeding previous records by several degrees.

Forecasters are now monitoring conditions closely to see whether the same pattern will return next week.
