Tiny Stretch of Bouley Bay Coastline to Go to Private Developer in Exchange for Safety Work
A narrow strip of public land at Bouley Bay in Jersey is set to be transferred to a private developer in return for crucial safety improvements.
The land, located in front of the long-closed Water's Edge Hotel, is approximately 1.5 metres wide and 20 metres long and will be handed over to W.E. (Jersey) Ltd.
Under the agreement, the developer is required to fund the clearance of the public slip road that has been blocked by a landslide. In addition, the company must construct a retaining wall and carry out stabilisation work at the base of the rock face, according to an official document released independently of the Infrastructure Minister.
The derelict hotel, which has been shuttered for over ten years, is planned to be redeveloped into a luxury residence.
The transfer was approved by Infrastructure Minister Constable Andy Jehan following a recommendation from Jersey Property Holdings. The arrangement can be finalised 15 days after being presented to the States.
