Indian Yoga Tradition Finds a New Home in Jersey
Rashmi Singhal has begun teaching traditional Indian yoga classes in Jersey, sharing her culture and promoting well-being through breathing techniques and postures. Originally from India, she moved to the island earlier this year after teaching yoga in Malta for six years.
Singhal said yoga helped her personally with neck pain and finding “stillness in the body.” She now hopes to host sessions outdoors, saying, “It feels so much more powerful in nature.”
Local resident Patricia McMahon, who joined the classes on a friend’s recommendation, described them as “very relaxing,” especially after work.
Singhal and her husband, Turban Banerjee, say they feel warmly welcomed by the Jersey community. Banerjee, who first visited on a work trip, said, “I went out to the beach in St Helier and immediately fell in love.”
