Jersey Hotel Opens Doors to Weddings with Full Accessibility

A fully accessible hotel in St Ouen’s has been given the green light to host weddings, offering couples a new, inclusive venue choice on the island.

Maison des Landes, which has 23 rooms designed for people with disabilities and their carers, has been granted a wedding venue licence. The hotel’s general manager, Steve Martin, said bookings would be welcomed from September and stressed that the venue would be open to all.

“This is such a positive step,” said Suzanne Day, support service manager at Enable Jersey. “Whether someone is living with a disability or simply wants a venue that ensures every guest can participate comfortably, couples now have a beautiful and accessible place to celebrate their big day. Not all venues in Jersey can offer that — this will make a real difference, even attracting visitors from outside the island.”

The idea to host weddings came directly from hotel guests, according to Mr Martin. “People started asking, ‘Wouldn’t this be a great wedding venue? Have you thought about doing weddings?’” he explained. “So we applied for a licence, and we’re delighted the Registrar and the Constable agreed.”

Maison des Landes plans to make the entire hotel available for hire for weddings, although events are likely to take place outside its busy summer season. “From May to September, the hotel is very active, so we’re thinking of hosting weddings in the other six months and seeing how it develops,” Mr Martin said.

The hotel is partnering with an events company to manage the ceremonies, while its own team will provide the venue and facilities.

With its combination of scenic surroundings, specialist accessibility features, and newly won licence, Maison des Landes could soon become one of Jersey’s most inclusive — and sought-after — wedding spots.
