Barclays customers in Jersey will be unable to deposit cash for more than a week this summer as Barclays prepares to temporarily shut its only island branch for refurbishment work.

The bank confirmed its site at Library Place in St Helier will close from Thursday 4 June and reopen on Friday 12 June while “essential work” is carried out to upgrade facilities.

During the closure, the branch’s ATMs will also be unavailable. Barclays said the improvements were aimed at enhancing “experience and functionality” within the branch.

Customers will still be able to withdraw cash using alternative ATMs across the island or through cashback services at participating retailers, the bank said.

Barclays added that online banking and telephone services would continue to operate as normal throughout the temporary closure.
