Wind gusts of up to 84mph were recorded at Jersey Airport as severe conditions continued to affect the island, according to Jersey Police.

Jersey Met also recorded gusts of 72mph at St Catherine shortly before 6am. Mean wind speeds reached storm force ten, with police warning that winds could remain at this strength or increase slightly for a further two to three hours.

Islanders have been urged to stay indoors during the worst of the weather and avoid unnecessary journeys and outdoor activities until lunchtime.

Fallen trees and debris continue to obstruct roads across the island. Infrastructure and Environment teams are expected to begin clearing affected routes when conditions ease and it is safe to do so later this morning.

Residents can report fallen trees and road debris through the online reporting service or by emailing dfi@gov.je.
