A popular outdoor story trail is returning to Millennium Park in St Helier, offering families the chance to enjoy reading together in the fresh air.
The initiative, now in its third year, is organised by local education charity Every Child Our Future as part of the Jersey Festival of Words.
This year’s trail features Superworm by Julia Donaldson, with Axel Scheffler’s well-known illustrations displayed across a series of boards that children can follow through the park.
Emma Firth, programme manager at the charity, said the team was delighted to bring the trail back:
“Using a much-loved story like Superworm in such a family-friendly space gives children a fun and memorable way to connect with books, while also encouraging outdoor exploration and shared experiences,” she said.
The trail forms part of the festival’s REAL in the Park event on Saturday. Festival director Pippa Les Quesne said it reflects the
heart of the celebration:
“The Festival of Words is all about celebrating stories in every form. The story trail is a wonderful way of taking stories out of books and into the community, helping children and families enjoy literature in an interactive and playful way.”
The charity hopes the event will once again inspire a love of reading and bring families together through stories in the open air.
