The managing director of Strive, a health club based in St Peter, has announced plans to lodge a revised application for a hotel development on its site early next year.

The company’s initial proposal for a six-storey hotel and conference centre was rejected by Jersey’s planning committee in November. While the scheme drew backing from business and tourism groups, it also attracted opposition from local residents and several politicians.

Managing director Ben Harvey said the organisation had chosen to prepare a new submission rather than appeal the decision. He explained that the Strive team had been “working very hard in conjunction with the planning department and various government consultees… to ensure we address the reasons for refusal”.

Although all seven planning committee members supported the idea of a hotel at the location during the November meeting, many raised concerns about the height and scale of the proposed structure. The committee also noted the plans conflicted with 21 policies contained in the Bridging Island Plan, the document that sets out Jersey’s land-use strategy.

Most members ultimately followed the planning department’s recommendation to refuse the application.

Strive has now confirmed that revised plans will be brought forward in the new year. The updated proposal is expected to be presented to the planning committee in February or March 2026.
