AquaSplash in St Helier Set for New Ownership in 2026
Jersey’s AquaSplash swimming pool will come under new ownership next year as part of plans by the Government of Jersey to “deliver better value for taxpayers.”
The government confirmed that the St Helier facility will become part of Active, its island-wide network of publicly managed leisure centres. Officials say the move will give them more control over costs and help streamline services across Jersey’s sports facilities.
Serco Jersey Limited, which has operated the waterpark for nearly 25 years, said it was “disappointed” to be stepping away but “proud” of what it has achieved since taking over the site in the late 1990s.
Constable Andy Jehan, Minister for Infrastructure, said the decision would help maintain services while ensuring better use of public funds.
“I am pleased to welcome AquaSplash into the family of Government of Jersey Sport facilities from next October,” Mr Jehan said.
“This change will deliver better value for taxpayers and ensure that AquaSplash continues to operate as normal and serve the public. We understand this may be a worrying time for staff, and we are committed to supporting them throughout the transition.”
The government said current AquaSplash employees would be considered for roles within the new management structure once the change takes effect.
A spokesperson for Serco added:
“We are disappointed to be leaving AquaSplash after almost 25 successful years in Jersey. However, we recognise the Government of Jersey’s need to deliver operational efficiencies. We’re proud of our achievements and will work closely with the government to ensure a smooth handover in 2026.”
