Jersey Development Company (JDC) has appointed London-based design studio Spacehub Design Ltd to lead the landscape design for the outdoor areas at Fort Regent as part of the site’s ongoing regeneration.

Spacehub was chosen following a competitive tender process, impressing with its creativity, innovation, and expertise in urban design, landscape architecture, and ecology. The studio, founded in 2010, specialises in public-realm projects that reflect the character of each site, incorporating nature, community, and collaborative design approaches.

With no commercial landscape architecture firms currently operating in Jersey, Spacehub brings specialist international expertise to the project. The firm will create a range of new outdoor amenities, including a pump track, skate park, ball court, parkour area, outdoor bouldering zone, and a children’s play garden.

Spacehub will work alongside Maverick Skate, a leading UK skatepark designer, and Velo Solutions, internationally recognised for pump-track design, to deliver high-quality, community-focused facilities for all ages.

The regeneration will also improve public-realm areas and access routes across the site’s three main levels—from Pier Road, the Ditch level, to the Ramparts—ensuring accessibility is central to the design.

As part of the process, Spacehub will engage local children and young people in interactive workshops from 1–3 December, giving them a direct voice in shaping Fort Regent’s outdoor spaces. Smaller sessions will be held with La Passerelle and Mont à l’Abbé School, while sixteen primary schools and five secondary schools will participate in group workshops hosted at Highlands College.

Students will collaborate with Spacehub, sharing ideas and insights that will inform design decisions ahead of the site-wide planning application, expected at the end of March.

JDC said the programme ensures the regenerated Fort Regent will feature outdoor spaces that are safe, inclusive, and inspiring, reflecting the needs and aspirations of the Jersey community.
