A number of residents were evacuated from Cherry Orchard Court this morning after reports of a smell of gas prompted an emergency response from fire and rescue services.
The Jersey Fire and Rescue Service was called shortly after 8.30am to assist Island Energy at the Valley Road site, according to the Justice and Home Affairs department. Officers from the States of Jersey Police also attended the scene.
The response followed two separate reports of a gas odour in the area.
Island Energy engineers were on site working to investigate the issue, authorities said.
A spokesperson for the department confirmed that residents were moved out of their homes as a precautionary measure while checks were carried out.
“A number of residents were evacuated as a precaution and are being supported by Andium Homes,” the statement said.
No injuries have been reported. Investigations into the source of the smell are continuing
