Plans to transform the long-abandoned La Folie Inn in St Helier — potentially including a 150-room hotel — have attracted “encouraging interest,” according to Ports of Jersey.
The historic 18th-century pub, once a favourite among harbour workers and sailors, has stood empty since its closure in 2004. Ports launched a procurement process in July to find partners for the 3,000 sq m waterfront site, following a study into commercially viable redevelopment options.
A Ports spokesperson said the project has drawn strong early interest and is moving through a pre-market engagement phase, with further updates expected at the end of the month.
The La Folie scheme forms part of Ports of Jersey’s wider Harbour Master Plan, aimed at regenerating St Helier Harbour with new public spaces and upgraded marine facilities. Construction work at Elizabeth Harbour is due to begin next year and continue until 2028.
