Plans have been lodged to redevelop mental health facilities in Jersey that have been described as “not fit for purpose.”

The proposal, submitted on behalf of Health Care Jersey, outlines a major overhaul of a government-owned building on La Motte Street.

According to the application, there is an “urgent need for improved facilities,” with the redevelopment set to deliver a new adult mental health day centre alongside a community hub.

Developers say the project would provide a “significant public benefit” by strengthening healthcare infrastructure, protecting heritage features, and creating a resilient, inclusive space designed to meet the island’s long-term mental health and community needs.
