The Government of Jersey has unveiled plans for a new skate park in St Helier.
If approved, the park would first be built at the top of South Hill, just behind the local boxing gym. Longer-term, it would relocate into the redeveloped Fort Regent site, which is expected to be finished by 2028.
According to the planning application, the South Hill site wouldn’t go to waste once the skate park moves. Instead, it would be converted into a cycle park.
Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan confirmed that more than 50 possible locations were reviewed before South Hill was chosen as the temporary home.
This isn’t Jersey’s first major investment in skate facilities. Last year, a £1.9m concrete skate park opened in Les Quennevais, providing a popular hub for skaters, scooters, and BMX riders.
