Petition Calls for Restoration of Victoria Marine Lake

A petition has been launched urging the Government of Jersey to repair and maintain Victoria Marine Lake rather than consider its demolition.

The future of the historic sea pool remains uncertain after Infrastructure Minister Constable Andy Jehan said all options were being considered. The debate follows a recent incident in which a child suffered minor injuries after being swept through a gap in the seawall, prompting safety warnings for the public to stay out of the area.

Petition organiser Shane Carson said restoring the marine lake would protect an important part of Jersey's heritage while supporting health, recreation and tourism.

The Victorian landmark reopened in 2014 following a £300,000 refurbishment, but ongoing problems with sea lettuce have limited its popularity.
