Jersey’s Chief Minister will officially open a new £8 million sports complex in St Saviour this Thursday.

Deputy Lyndon Farnham will welcome sports enthusiasts to the Oakfield Sports Centre,

alongside Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan and Jersey Sport Chief Executive David Kennedy.

The new facility features three multi-sport arenas, a 3G pitch, martial arts studios, and a purpose-built gymnastics hall. It will cater to a wide range of sports, including basketball, netball, and cricket.

Operated by Active, the centre replaces the Fort Regent facility and will host several activities previously held there. Construction began in August 2024, with local sports groups such as Jersey Cricket and the Jersey Netball Association invited to view progress during development.

During school hours, the facilities will be shared with local schools including Highlands College and Hautlieu School. Outside of these times, members, community groups, and junior clubs will have access. Sports clubs and associations will also be able to hire the arenas, pitch, and studios.

The government aims for the new Oakfield Sports Centre to serve as a “community-focused” hub within a wider network of sports facilities across Jersey.
