A newly opened co-working space in St Helier is aiming to offer freelancers, entrepreneurs and small business owners more than just a desk.
House of Champions, based at Charing Cross in St Andrew’s Place, combines flexible working facilities with social spaces designed to encourage networking and collaboration.
The venue includes a podcast studio, meeting rooms, private work booths and a communal kitchen, but its creators say the space has been designed to feel more creative and welcoming than a traditional office.
Bright colours, indoor plants, neon lighting and disco balls feature throughout the workspace, which has been tailored to appeal to modern flexible workers.
Membership packages are available at different levels, allowing users access to specific areas depending on their working needs. Passes can also be shared between friends or colleagues.
Founder Fiona Wylie said the project was created with inclusivity and community in mind, particularly for women balancing business ambitions with family life.
She said many people now work independently or in very small teams, but still value opportunities to connect with others professionally and socially.
“I want it to feel like a really creative and inclusive space,” she said.
“We’ve tried to create somewhere people can work productively while still feeling connected to others around them.
“Working from home has lots of benefits, but those moments where people come together, network and share ideas over a coffee are incredibly important, especially when you’re building something.”
House of Champions says it hopes to create a supportive community for people looking to work on their own terms while remaining part of a wider professional network.
