New Ferry Link Between Jersey and Guernsey Set for Late May Launch
A new high-speed passenger ferry service connecting Jersey and Guernsey is on course to launch at the end of May, according to operator Islands Unlimited. The service will offer daily inter-island sailings for foot passengers, using the 316-capacity catamaran San Pawl, which has recently undergone comprehensive maintenance and inspections in Malta.
The vessel, previously operated by Virtu Ferries, will be shipped to Guernsey in early May aboard a specialist transport vessel using a custom-built cradle, ahead of its first official crossing on 30 May.
Captain Chad Murray, CEO of Islands Unlimited, expressed confidence in the vessel: “We’re really pleased with the ship’s condition and handling. While she’s older in years, she’s clearly been well maintained and continues to be a safe, reliable option for island travellers.”
The standard adult return fare is expected to be £67, with a schedule that includes multiple crossings each day. On weekdays, sailings will run between 07:00 and 19:45, except Tuesdays when the service ends earlier at 16:45. Weekend operations will extend until 21:45.
The new service aims to improve connectivity between the Channel Islands and provide a faster, more flexible travel option for residents and tourists alike.
