Travellers from Jersey will be able to visit Bordeaux - often dubbed “The Sleeping Beauty” thanks to new direct summer flights launching in June.

Famed for its wine, historic architecture and relaxed atmosphere, Bordeaux offers visitors access to one of France’s most celebrated wine regions, with landmarks such as Place de la Bourse and nearby vineyards attracting tourists each year.

The new route, operated by Loganair, will run twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays from 19 June to 5 October. Fares start from £79.99 from Jersey and €89.99 from Bordeaux, including a 21kg baggage allowance.

Simon Dreschel, chief executive of Bordeaux Airport, said the route would boost tourism in both directions, attracting travellers keen to experience the region’s lifestyle, food and wine.

The service adds to Loganair’s seasonal routes from Jersey to Norwich, East Midlands and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
