Starting next month, European passport holders will be required to obtain digital permission to travel to Jersey via the UK.

From April 2, anyone with a European passport planning to visit the island must secure an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before reaching the UK border.

However, the Government of Jersey clarified that visitors traveling directly to Jersey—such as French day-trippers—won’t need an ETA until at least the autumn.

Customs officials mentioned that it typically takes three days to process ETA applications and confirm approvals.

The government emphasised that all travelers, including infants and children, must apply for an ETA.

The cost for an ETA is £10, and it allows multiple visits to the Common Travel Area for stays of up to six months at a time over a two-year period, or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
