Giant Blooms Take Over Jersey Library in New ‘Unearthed’ Exhibition
Towering poppies, foxgloves, and lilies have sprung to life at Jersey Library as part of a striking new exhibition and a packed programme of themed events.
These oversized, handcrafted flowers are the work of award-winning Siberian floral artist Svitlana. The stunning creations, currently on loan from Jersey Finance, are featured in the library’s latest exhibition, Unearthed.
The exhibition explores gardening, its rich history, and its many benefits — from supporting wildlife and biodiversity to promoting well-being and conservation. It also delves into the science of biology and the natural world.
Unearthed is part of the British Library’s Living Knowledge Network — a nationwide collaboration with libraries across the UK.
“As part of the network, we regularly host exhibitions that connect with major British Library displays,” said a library spokesperson. “We installed this one early to showcase these incredible flowers. People are amazed — we’ve had so many wonderful comments.”
In addition to the visual display, the library is offering a full calendar of events, including poetry and photography competitions, themed talks, quizzes, laser-cutting workshops to make plant markers, needle felting, and flower pressing sessions.
Artist Svitlana, who has ongoing projects in Jersey, Germany, and Poland, shared her excitement: “Seeing my work travel and touch new people has been incredibly rewarding.”
The full schedule of events is available now at Jersey Library.
