Jersey Sports Clubs Receive £244,000 Boost as Funding Scheme Expands Opportunities

More than £244,000 has been awarded to Jersey’s sporting community as part of the latest round of a charitable funding initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots sport.

Jersey Sport confirmed that 35 projects involving 23 local organisations will benefit from the Sport Activation funding, which is supported by the Channel Islands Lottery and the legacy of Valerie Guy.

The investment will help a range of initiatives, including increasing participation in sport, supporting the development of coaches, officials and volunteers, improving organisational resources through professional support, and upgrading sporting facilities across the island.

The latest funding round brings the total amount distributed by Jersey Sport to local sport in 2026 to £718,933, as the organisation works towards its goal of investing £1 million into the community during the year.

Jersey Sport said the projects would deliver long-term benefits across a variety of sports, from improving facilities and expanding community programmes to creating new opportunities for groups that are currently underrepresented.

It added that the funding would help clubs and organisations build stronger foundations and encourage more people to get involved in sport across the island.

The next round of funding applications will be assessed in October, with successful projects expected to receive financial support in December.
