Jersey is set to welcome athletes and visitors from around the world this September as three major endurance events come together for a packed weekend of sport across the island.
Taking place on 5 and 6 September, the programme will feature Swim Run Jersey, the JSAC Half Marathon, and the Supertri Pro Series Final, showcasing the island as a leading destination for endurance competition against its coastal and rural landscapes.
To encourage spectators to make the most of the weekend, Supertri has introduced exclusive supporter packages combining event access with accommodation, athlete meet-and-greets, and guided sightseeing experiences across Jersey.
The weekend begins on Saturday morning with Swim Run Jersey, organised by 3D Events. The race starts in the shadow of Mont Orgueil Castle and takes competitors on a multi-stage course combining open-water swimming and trail running along Jersey’s coastline, bays and cliff paths.
Known for its distinctive format and dramatic scenery, the event has grown into one of the most recognisable endurance challenges in the British Isles.
Andrew Thomas, managing director of 3D Events, said the collaboration with Supertri would elevate the weekend experience for both competitors and visitors.
He said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Supertri to create an even more exciting and rewarding experience for our Swim Run Jersey participants. Racing around Jersey’s coastline on Saturday and then watching world-class triathletes compete on Sunday makes this a truly unique sporting weekend.”
He added that combining mass participation sport with elite competition would help attract more visitors, encourage longer stays, and showcase Jersey as a world-class endurance destination.
On Sunday morning, runners of all abilities will take part in the JSAC Half Marathon, organised by Jersey Spartan Athletic Club in support of the Jersey Heart Support Group.
The race, the most southerly half marathon in the British Isles, follows a scenic coastal route past historic landmarks and sea views. It remains a key fixture in Jersey’s sporting calendar, drawing both local and visiting runners.
Katherine Cartwright, from Jersey Spartan Athletic Club, said the event highlights the island’s sporting spirit and community focus.
She said: “Jersey Spartan Athletic Club is proud to be part of an incredible weekend of endurance sport alongside Supertri and Swim Run. These events showcase the strength, resilience and community spirit that make endurance sport so special, while raising funds for the Jersey Heart Support Group.”
The weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon with the Supertri Pro Series Final at the Waterfront, where the world’s top short-course triathletes will compete for a total prize fund of $800,000.
It will be the sixth time Jersey has hosted Supertri racing, further reinforcing the island’s reputation as a major international sporting venue.
Michael D’hulst, chief executive and co-founder of Supertri, said Jersey offers a unique experience for athletes and spectators alike.
He said: “Jersey is an incredible sporting destination because it offers so much more than just a race venue. The island has a fantastic atmosphere, passionate community and spectacular scenery.”
He added that Supertri was excited to be part of the wider weekend and to support the island’s sporting community.
The initiative also includes travel packages through Supertri’s official partner, Nirvana Europe, offering accommodation, race entries, VIP access to the Supertri final, athlete meet-and-greets, and guided tours of the island between events.
Visit Jersey Chief Executive Tricia Warwick said major events like this have a clear impact on the island’s tourism economy.
She said: “The right events, with the reach and appeal to drive incremental visitors to the island, make a real difference to Jersey’s visitor economy. We hope athletes and spectators take time to explore everything Jersey has to offer.”
