Jersey’s new States Assembly members set for official swearing-in ceremony

Jersey’s newly elected members of the States Assembly are preparing to formally take up their positions following Sunday’s election results.

Those who secured seats in the poll have been instructed to report to the Royal Court at 09:30 BST, where each will be required to swear an oath of office as part of the official inauguration process.

At the same time, outgoing members who were not re-elected will formally step down, marking the end of their tenure in the island’s parliament.

Once the swearing-in ceremony is complete, the new Assembly will convene for its first sitting on 19 June. During that meeting, Lyndon Farnham is expected to be nominated as chief minister-designate.
