Jersey Basks in Warmest Spring Ever Recorded
Jersey has experienced its warmest spring since records began, according to the latest figures from Jersey Met.
The island’s average temperature for the season reached 12.7°C — a significant 1.6°C above the 30-year seasonal norm. The hottest day was recorded on 30 April, when temperatures soared to 25.9°C.
It wasn’t just the heat that set records. This spring was also the third driest since 1894, with just 67.6mm of rainfall — nearly 60% less than the seasonal average of 178mm. The wettest day was 18 April, which saw 13.4mm of rain fall at the Maison St Louis observatory.
Sunshine was in no short supply either. With 794 hours recorded at Fort Regent, spring 2025 also ranked as Jersey’s fourth sunniest in a century. That’s 165 hours — nearly a full week — more sunshine than usual across March, April, and May.
The exceptional weather marks a notable shift in seasonal patterns for the island, highlighting ongoing changes in the climate.
